Skull and Tree started as a concept. A concept piece. I wanted to digitally and visually create a tree growing from a skull. The idea came about from my idealogical views of the cycle of life. What is born returns to the earth, to give life again. The piece was created and spawned a bit of theraputic recluse for myself. I've since learned I can express, share and evoke my emotions through this medium and exercise. Over time, I kept creating and finally got pushed by a few people to share the work with the world. I'm slowing doing so.
Skull and Tree is much more than my artist expression. It is my own personal
The goal of my work is catharsis. For me, a piece is successful when I have a sense of spiritual renewal and release of tension.
My conceptual process stems from a private life experience, observation or strong opinion.
I work obsessively with skulls, skeletons, animals, humans and plant life as I have a passionate interest in the natural cycle of life and death.
The technical process includes many digital assets: photographs, antique technical drawings and a personal collections of textures. Many are collected before the onset of a new piece. By using the computer as my primary tool, I can work quickly and allow mistakes to happen. I view it as a symbiotic relationship of man and machine.
When not creating digital art, I am the Associate Creative Director and Technical Director at .
